Aberdeenshire is home to the most castles per acre in the whole of the UK. Aberchirder is conveniently located on the Castle Trail between Huntly Castle & Duff House. One of our favourites, and not mentioned on the trail is the ruined castle of Findlater nr Sandend (Undue caution must be taken when visiting Findlater Castle)

Seaside town with beautiful hidden fishing harbour. The Remake of the film ‘Whisky Galore’ has just been filmed here. The Shore Inn is a great harbourside pub and there's an annual Traditional Scottish Boat Festival

Two seaside towns linked by a bridge over the mouth of The Deveron, plenty to see and do including visiting Duff House, the Macduff Marine Aquarium, the famous Spotty Bag Shop and you can even take a surfing lesson.

Traditional fishing village well worth a visit. The film Local Hero was set here in 1983 and the iconic red telephone box is still in existence. The Pennan Inn is a great place for food and drink.

Huntly 12 miles
Bustling town with a monthly Farmer's Market plenty of shops including a fantastic Whisky Shop, an Ethical Gift Shop and attractions such as Huntly Castle and Deans Shortbread factory. There's a National Rail Station in the town which is the closest train station to Aberchirder.

A tradtional town with a legendary story about a cow; 'The Turra Coo'. There's the popular annual Turriff Show which attracts people from all over Scotland and two heritage museums; the Auld Post Office Museum & the Session Cottage Museum.​

Keith 15 miles
Keith situated just outside of Aberdeenshire in the county of Moray and has lots to offer being at the start of the Speyside Whisky Trail. The Deli Shop on the high street is well worth worth a visit as is the specialist Scottish gift shop; Mither Tongue. The Keith to Dufftown Railway is an 11 mile long Leisure Railway linking the World’s Malt Whisky capitol; Dufftown to the market town of Keith.
