Fishing can be enjoyed along the most beautiful stretch of the River Deveron, only a short drive from Aberchirder. The location really is a hidden gem and the opportunity to witness spectacular wildlife, such as otters and birds of prey, is very real. This wonderful part of the riverbank, named Glebe Fishings, is owned by the Church of the Parish of Marnoch and is locally known as 'Manse Pool' or 'Church Water'.
The Deveron has a well deserved reputation as an angling river and is a famous and prolific salmon, sea trout and brown trout fishery. There are runs in the spring, summer and often prolific runs of autumn salmon, through to the season's end on 31st October.
The 2 rod beat is situated along the mid section of the River Deveron, on the left bank close to the Bridge of Marnoch. Day permits for fishing are available Monday - Saturday or part of excellent value accommodation packages.

The Fish

The spring salmon run on the Deveron starts in March and the best time for spring salmon fishing is from March through to May.

The months of June, July and August are best for sea trout fishing and the grilse runs begin normally in June and carry on right through to September.

The summer salmon runs are usually from July to the end of October.

Brown trout fishing is at its best from the beginning of the season until May and then there are evening rises throughout the summer.

Glebe Fishings is accessed easily from the B117, Bridge of Marnoch to Rothiemay road, just after the Manse of Marnoch.

Parking is available at the side of the road, or transfers can be arranged.

In both beats fly rods from 12' to 15' are sufficient.
